Welcome to the home page of the British Society for the History of Philosophy. Founded in 1984 as a registered charity, the Society promotes all aspects of the study and teaching of the history of philosophy through conferences, publications (in particular, the BJHP) and other activities (such as our Graduate Student Essay Prize).
Information on all of this can be accessed from the links at the top of the page, together with details of our aims, management committee and membership.
Our conference this year is on the theme 'Habit in the History of Philosophy'. It is to be held in the University of Durham, 12-14 April. For more information, click here
